Not only did Kate Middleton channel Princess Diana to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, she also wore an item from her late mother-in-law’s personal collection.
On June 2, the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the Trooping the Colour ceremony alongside Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and her children; eight-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte, and four-year-old Prince Louis. While her daughter was busy correcting young Louis’s waving technique, the duchess smiled at the crowd and did some royal waving of her own.
Unlike Diana, who wore a pair of pearl earrings to complete the look, the duchess found an additional way to honor Prince William’s mother during the queen’s Platinum Jubilee. In the photos of Middleton, she can be seen wearing a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings that were previously owned by her mother-in-law.
Amongst other occasions, Princess Diana notably wore the stunning jewels with a matching sapphire and pearl choker and navy slip dress to the 1996 Met Gala, three months after her divorce from Prince Charles.
We’d say Kate Middleton’s layered homage to Princess Diana is one of her best.
