New Detroit train station coming in 2024 as part of $10B plan

DETROIT – A new train station will be part of a 10-year plan to connect Michiganders and Midwesterners, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Saturday. The New International Train Station, expected to open in 2024, is part of a $10 billion investment in mobility the governor announced as part of her MI New Economy plan. The project will create hundreds of jobs, and help connect Michigan businesses to international markets, state officials said. The new station will be located near the existing Amtrak station in downtown Detroit, and will significantly expand the number and speed of trains heading into Canada, described by Whitmer as Michigan’s .
