The number of people fleeing from climate change could hit 47 million by 2030, ten times the current rate, the United Nations said on Thursday, calling on the world to step up efforts to halt climate change.
The annual report of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) said climate change was already contributing to displacement, especially in poorer, vulnerable countries, and that urgent action was needed to help communities adapt and build resilience to these effects.
