The Google News Initiative (GNI) and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) today announced a new partnership to support digital journalism education and innovation in Asia-Pacific.

The collaboration will see the creation of a new GNI Innovation Challenge at NTU, a research-intensive university with a strong focus on interdisciplinary education. The Challenge will provide funding and mentorship to students and faculty working on projects that explore new ways to gather, analyze, and present news and information in the digital age.

In addition, GNI and NTU will develop a new curriculum that will incorporate digital journalism skills into the university’s existing journalism and media programs. This curriculum will provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving digital media landscape.

“We are excited to partner with NTU to support digital journalism education and innovation in Asia-Pacific,” said Susan Pointer, Director of News and Publisher Partnerships, Google News Initiative. “NTU is a leading university with a strong commitment to research and innovation.
