Barbaric Attack on New Zealand Mosque Leaves 50 Dead

**Christchurch, New Zealand** – A lone gunman opened fire on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Friday, killing at least 50 people and injuring dozens more in the deadliest mass shooting in the country’s history.

The attacks, which were livestreamed on social media, targeted the Al Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Centre during weekly Friday prayers.

The gunman, identified as 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant, entered the Al Noor Mosque first, where he opened fire on worshippers with a semi-automatic rifle. He then drove to the Linwood Islamic Centre and carried out a second attack.

Police apprehended Tarrant shortly after the second attack. He has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
